Today we visited the Tower of London. We thought we would go for an early start and spend a few hours and then move on to other sights, but managed to leave as the doors were closing at 5.30. This place is absolutely AMAZING. We had a wonderful guide, a 'Beefeater' who told us some of the history of the Tower. This Tower was erected in 1066 and completed in 1078, and is still the home today of the Crown Jewels. We were able to go through the vault and see the actual jewels, which was just unbelievable to think we were standing right in front of these awesome crowns and jewels which were absolutely laden with massive gems and gold, one even had a 730 carat diamond set amongst its masses of other huge gems. After going through the vault we made our way through the buildings of the Tower, which house for the major part, all original displays. Again it was quite amazing to think we were standing right in front of the armour etc worn by Henry V111 and other kings, queens and nobility.
